GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lakenna King Scott, 50, of Hawthorne, was arrested Oct. 22 after allegedly attempting to enter a woman’s vehicle during a road-rage confrontation at a traffic light on Sept. 1.
According to a Gainesville Police Department report, the incident began at about 1:18 p.m. when Scott became upset with the victim, possibly because the victim was driving more slowly than Scott.
The victim told police that Scott abruptly changed lanes in front of her in an apparent attempt to cut her off. When both vehicles stopped at a traffic light, the victim looked toward Scott, who allegedly became angry, drove erratically alongside her vehicle, shouted obscenities and threatened to batter her.
The victim began recording the encounter and told the officer she feared Scott would harm her. She said Scott continued shouting obscenities and ordering her to pull over. At the next traffic light, Scott allegedly exited her vehicle, approached the victim’s vehicle and yelled obscenities and racial slurs. Scott allegedly threatened the victim and pulled on the passenger-side door handles, but the doors were locked. After the victim drove away, Scott reportedly continued alongside her, yelling.
The victim said Scott again pulled in front of her vehicle, got out and tried to open a door. When she was unable to do so, Scott allegedly punched the vehicle, leaving it dented and scratched.
As the victim continued driving, Scott allegedly followed her and attempted to force her vehicle off the roadway. The victim called 911, after which Scott reportedly drove away.

The responding officer documented damage to the victim’s vehicle and reviewed video that reportedly captured the entire incident. The footage helped police obtain the tag number of Scott’s vehicle. After Scott’s photograph was included in a photo lineup, the victim identified her as the woman who had followed her and attempted to enter her vehicle.
A warrant for Scott’s arrest was issued Oct. 16, and she was taken into custody Oct. 22.
Scott is charged with attempted burglary of an occupied vehicle. She has six felony convictions, including three involving violence, and 10 misdemeanor convictions, including two involving violence. She has served four state prison sentences and was most recently released in 2019. Judge Adam Lee set bail at $100,000.
