Inset: Angel Cruz Garcia, according to the Orlando Police Department. In the background, police body-camera video appears to show an infant in a car seat with a firearm positioned beneath it, authorities said.
A 19-year-old Florida man is facing charges after police allegedly discovered a P90 firearm wrapped in a towel underneath the car seat of an 11-month-old child.
Angel Cruz Garcia was charged with possession of a concealed firearm by a juvenile delinquent and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, the Orlando Police Department announced.
Authorities identified the weapon as a black FN Herstal P90, which the manufacturer describes as “a compact, lightweight weapon with a magazine capacity of 50 cartridges.” Body-camera footage released in the case appears to show the gun concealed inside a beach towel directly below the child’s seat.
Court records reviewed by regional NBC affiliate WESH indicate that Garcia had previously been convicted as a juvenile. That history barred him from legally possessing a firearm, according to the report.
Garcia was arrested and charged in connection with the latest incident. He has since been released from jail after posting bond.
Police have not disclosed how, if at all, Garcia was connected to the child.
