Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, gathered with family and close friends over the weekend for a private celebration of life honoring their late daughter, Fiona.
The 58-year-old actor and 52-year-old casting director held the service for 13-year-old Fiona weeks after her death by suicide on September 29, sources told People.
The Lowes announced Fiona’s death in September, expressing their devastation over the loss of “a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said in a statement. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
The family also encouraged anyone experiencing mental health struggles to contact the suicide prevention helpline for support.
Earlier this month, Lowe, Painter and their daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10, made their first public appearance since Fiona’s death when they attended a relative’s wedding.

During the wedding, the grieving father was seen smiling, while Painter affectionately placed an arm around Nixie.
“Chad, Kim and the daughters wanted to be around family this weekend,” a source told People at the time. “Though this is an extremely difficult time, the family has rallied around them.”
The insider added that Chad and Kim wanted their daughters surrounded by family and friends. They felt it was important to share moments of joy with the people who love them and loved Fiona most.
Lowe also returned to social media this month by reposting an Instagram Stories video featuring Irish writer Gerry Hussey.
The post came just days after his brother Rob Lowe’s son shared a poem honoring Fiona.
The excerpt, taken from a longer appearance by Hussey on Olivia Hunt’s On Healing podcast, reflected on the nature of the soul after death.
“It is a frequency. It’s an energy field. And we possess it all the time within ourselves. We are all part of the frequency,” Hussey said. “We all possess direct access to that.”
“We both possess the human and the divine,” he continued. “We are connected to everything that is. It just makes sense, and there’s nothing there but peace and love. So when we die, where do we go? We return to a state of peace and love.”
While Hussey’s words resonated in light of the family’s loss, Lowe did not add a personal comment to the repost.
Lowe’s social media return followed a heartfelt poem about hope shared by his nephew, John Owen, days after Fiona’s death.

The 30-year-old actor, who’s the Brat Pack icon’s youngest son, took to his Instagram Stories and posted Emily Dickinson’s poem Hope Is the Thing With Feathers.
‘Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all,’ the poem reads.
‘And sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm,’ it goes on.
‘I’ve heard it in the chillest land, and on the strangest sea; yet, never, in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.’
Rob and John were also seen arriving at the Los Angeles home of his younger brother, Chad, earlier this month.
John, who is Rob’s second son with wife Sheryl Berkoff, 65, joined other members of his family who have paid tribute to the teenager, including Chad’s older daughter, Mabel.
Mabel honored her sibling by sharing a carousel of sweet throwback photos to Instagram of the two youngsters growing up and sharing everything together.
‘I love you so much Fiona,’ Mabel captioned the Saturday post. ‘I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.’

Included in the slideshow were pictures of Mabel and Fiona at the beach; Fiona riding in the car with birthday balloons and her feet sticking out the window; the two little girls snuggling in a pet bed; riding in a kiddie wagon; Fiona in her crib getting a hug from her big sis; enjoying a picnic at the park; and Fiona in the dance studio, among others.
Mabel’s touching words come as the family embraced the heartfelt tributes that keep flooding in for their beloved Fiona following her tragic death.
Mabel took to her Instagram Stories to repost touching video tributes from Fiona’s former dance teacher and the youth club and camp Fiona attended prior to her passing.
The first reel was initially posted by Kendra Andrews, who teaches and choreographs at the Los Angeles dance studio where Fiona was a student.

Andrews’s lengthy caption began with a reference to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed the family’s home.
‘This first video was taken only a month after you lost your home in the fire,’ Andrews wrote. ‘You came into the studio like you always did for all the years I’ve known you … excited with a beaming, bright smile and a big, warm hug for me.’
Andrews’s post also featured another video of Fiona practicing the same dance after weeks of rehearsing the moves.
‘The next video is our second rehearsal a few weeks later. You had clearly spent so much time outside of the studio working hard to fine tune and finesse. Your passion and determination were incredibly beautiful to witness,’ Andrews shared.
‘I didn’t film when you performed it on stage a couple days later, as I wanted to be fully present and soak it in. I just watched from the wings, heart swelling with pride and my eyes flooding with tears of joy.
‘FiFi, I love you more than words can convey. It was an honor to teach you, laugh with you, and watch you grow. Our hearts are shattered. We will never be the same without you here. I will miss you and love you forever,’ she continued.
Andrews also had kind words for Fiona’s parents and siblings.
‘Chad, Kim, Mabel, and Nixie…I love you and I’m thinking of you nonstop,’ she concluded.
Widget Works, the youth group and camp that featured beach days, ocean activities and outdoor adventures in the Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades areas of Southern California, shared a deeply moving tribute to the teenager.
Mabel reposted their video of Fiona hanging out on the beach with friends and chatting about her stuffed pumpkin pillow, which she had named ‘Mr Pumpkin.’
‘He’s a lopsided pumpkin,’ Fiona told the woman behind the camera with a jovial smile.
‘Thank you, Fiona. Thank you for all the beautiful years we were able to frolic, dance, laugh and love each other,’ Widget Works wrote.
‘Thank you for being such an important part of our Widget Works family and for sharing your love, creativity and sweet sassiness with us.
‘We will miss you, and we will look for you in every wave, every seagull squawk, and we will chant your name amongst the “we are proud of yous.”‘
The youth organization added: ‘We love and adore you, and our hearts ache to be without you. But you will forever be part of our summers, and we will honor you and remember all the beautiful days we were blessed with you. We love you, Fiona.’

Emergency services responded to the family home at 12.10am on Tuesday, September 29, and the teen was transported to an area hospital, where the Medical Examiner said she was pronounced dead at 1.14am.

‘Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,’ he shared.
‘It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways… And it’s put it in my heart, because I have three daughters. And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective.’
The proud dad also raved about taking his three girls to Taylor Swift’s concert in 2023, sharing sweet snaps on Instagram and writing, ‘It’s official, I’m a certified Swiftie Dad! I totally get it now! What an awesome night!’
Lowe married Painter following the end of his first marriage to actress Hilary Swank, which lasted 10 years and ended in divorce in 2007.
He won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his supporting role on the comedy-drama series Life Goes On, where he starred as a man living with HIV.
