Vice President JD Vance may travel to upstate New York on the eve of the Nov. 3 election as Republicans work to hold onto retiring Rep. Elise Stefanik’s seat, sources said Tuesday.
According to three Republican insiders familiar with preliminary plans, Vance is expected to campaign with GOP nominee Anthony Constantino in Ogdensburg on Monday, Nov. 2.
Constantino, the owner of a company that manufactures stickers and decals, is facing an unexpectedly competitive race against Democratic farmer Blake Gendebien in New York’s 21st Congressional District.
The vast North Country district spans 15 counties, reaches the Vermont and Canadian borders and includes Adirondack Park.
Despite the heightened attention, it remains one of New York’s most reliably Republican districts, with more registered GOP voters than Democrats.

President Trump won the district by 24 percentage points over Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Still, several independent polls indicate the contest has tightened considerably, with some showing Gendebien holding a narrow lead.
Gendebien’s campaign characterized the potential Vance visit as evidence that Republicans are growing concerned about the race.
“Anthony Constantino couldn’t find the North Country for a month, so the White House is sending the Vice President to find it for him,” Michael Waller, Gendebien’s campaign manager, said in a statement.
“You don’t fly the Vice President into a plus-24 seat the day before the election unless you know you’re losing it. If the administration wants to see what its trade war did, Ogdensburg is the right stop. The bridge is right there. Ask anyone who works on it.”
The Ogdensburg Bridge crosses the St. Lawrence River and links New York to Canada.
The Constantino campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
