Nicki Minaj has launched a blistering attack on New York Governor Kathy Hochul, branding her an “evil woman” who “will not escape God’s wrath” as speculation grows that the rapper could become President Donald Trump’s next press secretary.
Minaj, who was raised in Queens, criticized the Democrat in a series of social media posts on Wednesday. Her comments came less than a week before Hochul is due to face Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in an election to keep her position.
“Kathy Hochul is an evil woman,” Minaj wrote on X.
The rapper went on to argue that the Democratic Party should give up Hochul’s seat, warning that even a victory would carry serious consequences. She predicted the governor would enter a “downward spiral” and “will not escape God’s wrath.”
“She did not denounce evil when she had the chance,” claimed the singer, whose hits include Starships.
Asked about Minaj’s remarks later, Hochul appeared taken aback and shook her head.
Hochul then suggested that Minaj should “get outside, and stop going to Trump rallies—it’s kind of poisoning your mind.”
Blakeman, meanwhile, appeared happy to see his rival come under fire. “Nicki, I’ve got the U-Haul ready. It’s time to fire the worst governor in America,” he wrote on X.

The reason for the rapper’s attack on the New York governor remains unclear
“The difference between Kathy Hochul and @NICKIMINAJ is Nicki excels at what she does while @KathyHochul is a failure who makes everyone miserable,” the Republican candidate added in a follow-up post.
“Nicki is probably the best female rapper of all time, while Kathy is the worst governor in the history of New York.”
Minaj later urged New Yorkers to vote for Blakeman, again criticizing Hochul over comments in which she said she wanted the world opened up to “black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is.”
“HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?!” she wrote.
“SHE STAYS SILENT ON HARM BEING CAUSED TO THE INNOCENT & THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF YOUR CHILDREN!”
The circumstances behind Minaj’s outburst against Hochul remain unclear.
Her comments came only days after she appeared alongside Trump at a rally in Michigan.
“President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever,” she told the crowd. “If you run again, I will support you again.”

She had previously stood beside the president as he announced the creation of Trump Accounts
Before Minaj spoke, Trump commented on her derrière, saying she had a “beautiful a**” and encouraging her to stand up and show it off.
Minaj also publicly backed Trump in January, when he praised her for investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in Trump Accounts for the children of her supporters.
The rapper appeared more reserved than usual before the government and business audience that month, but expressed strong support for Trump despite criticism of her decision to stand behind the president.
“I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan,” Minaj said from the podium at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in January. “And that’s not going to change.”
She added that attacks on Trump only motivate her and his supporters to back him more forcefully.
The Trinidadian singer also told fans earlier this year that she was pursuing US citizenship.
“Residency? Residency? The cope is coping,” she wrote in a separate post on X. “Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President. Thanks to the petition.”
Minaj continued: “I wouldn’t have done it without you. Oh CitizenNIKA you are thee moment Gold Trump card free of charge.”

Should celebrities such as Nicki Minaj use their platform to influence elections and political appointments?
Her political comments have become more frequent ahead of this year’s midterm elections. In an interview with Our News Outlet, Minaj called the vote “the most important midterm election of our lifetimes.”
“We need to make sure that our great president has a great team in Congress to work with during his final two years in office so he can continue to create great programs like the Trump accounts, which I am a proud supporter of,” she said.
Before Sunday’s rally, Minaj also discussed politics with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.
The pair spoke aboard Air Force One while traveling to Michigan. Cheung shared a clip of their conversation and suggested that Minaj could become Trump’s next press secretary following Katie Zacharia’s departure earlier this month.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ,” Trump’s trusted aide wrote.
Minaj reposted Cheung’s message with two emojis—an American flag and a laughing face with a bead of sweat—offering no clear answer about the proposed role.
Cheung asked Minaj, who was wearing a $6,000 Gucci suit, how she viewed the US economy under Trump.
“Well, we have a president who understands economics first of all. You know, I’ve said before that the president is, naturally, a businessman. He’s worked his way out of not having a dollar left in the bank,” Minaj replied.
She added: “If he can do that himself, with his own finances, surely he knows what to do with the country.”
Minaj also praised Trump’s approach to foreign policy, describing him as “tough internationally,” while highlighting his work ethic.
“The man won three elections!” she exclaimed. “He wakes up at four o’clock in the morning. He outworks people who are half his age.”
“What does that say about his character? He’s paying it forward. He’s thinking about the other Republicans who have to win in this election. That tells me that he’s a great guy,” she said as she concluded her remarks.
