SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a young boy at an extended-stay hotel in Satellite Beach.
Emergency crews were called at about 8 p.m. Thursday to America’s Best Value Inn along Highway A1A, south of Pineda Causeway, following reports that a child was not breathing.
Deputies said the boy had been playing inside the hotel room while his mother was on the balcony. When she returned to check on him, she found him unresponsive and called for assistance.
Brevard County Fire Rescue personnel provided emergency treatment before taking the child to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead despite efforts to save his life, according to deputies.
Investigators said the initial evidence, along with preliminary autopsy findings, indicates that the death was accidental.
