The Princess of Wales has delighted fans by sharing a charming throwback photograph of Prince Louis at just one year old while wishing everyone a happy Halloween.
Kate posted the image on social media on Saturday morning. It shows Louis playing with a pumpkin.
Now eight, the young prince is pictured in a blue raincoat and bright red boots, smiling as he crouches over the large pumpkin and examines it closely.
The photograph was taken by the Princess of Wales and shared with the simple caption: ‘Happy Halloween!’
William and Catherine, both 44, are understood to enjoy the October 31 celebrations with their children. The princess has previously been seen taking Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis trick-or-treating.
Doorbell-camera footage from 2022 showed Kate standing at a front door with the children’s bags while they waited nearby in their costumes.
However, the family generally celebrates away from the public eye as they seek to give their children as ordinary an upbringing as possible, away from the intense spotlight surrounding the royal family.
The post is believed to be the first time the couple have publicly acknowledged Halloween.

Royal fans warmly received the photograph of Prince Louis, who has made a number of public appearances this year.
He marked his eighth birthday with a family trip to Cornwall alongside his parents and siblings.
Later in the summer, Louis was photographed attending the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Wearing a Welsh bucket hat, the youngster grinned as he watched the cycling at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
Seated between his siblings, Louis reacted enthusiastically throughout the event, biting his nails, gasping and pointing from the stands.
His familiar mischievous smile was once again on display as he followed the action in the velodrome. It recalled his memorable appearance at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, when his animated antics captured the public’s attention.
Earlier this week, Catherine visited a mental health charity and spoke about the restorative benefits of spending time in nature. Her photograph of Louis outdoors also reflects the family’s well-known appreciation of the natural world.
The princess visited Dose of Nature, a pioneering mental health charity in Kew, south-west London, which helps people improve their wellbeing through clinical psychology and a stronger connection with nature.
As part of her visit, Kate toured the charity’s Richmond-based site, Pensford Field, and attended the conclusion of its weekly ‘Art in Nature’ session, highlighting her ongoing interest in mental health and wellbeing.
She also spoke with Tom, a former programme participant who now works as a Nature Guide at the charity. He described how spending time outdoors had helped strengthen his confidence and resilience.
‘Our journeys have been very, very different, but it’s so wonderful to hear how your connection with nature has been so healing for you. I felt the same,’ Kate told Tom.
‘The fact that you’re able to provide that for so many other people in this community — that sense of purpose, meaning and belonging through that experience.
‘I think it has the longevity and sustainability of feeling that, almost without knowing what’s to come and without having control over your life or knowing what the future might hold,
‘you feel able to cope with things because you sense that interconnection. I think that makes it holistic in the truest sense.’
