A former Oklahoma judge allegedly fired a gun toward a group of trick-or-treaters on Halloween before pointing the weapon at a responding police officer, authorities said. He was later booked into the jail in the county where he once served on the bench.
Jerry Herberger, 73, allegedly shot in the direction of children collecting candy outside a residence on Linwood Lane in Duncan at about 8 p.m. Saturday, police told KSWO. Authorities did not disclose what prompted the incident.
No one was struck. However, when officers arrived, Herberger allegedly pointed his firearm at one of them, according to the Duncan Police Department.
Herberger eventually followed the officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. He was then booked into the Stephens County jail—the same county where he previously served as a judge, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
