A woman who lives alone has revealed all the gadgets she relies on to keep herself safe and prevent her apartment from getting broken into in a viral TikTok video.
Chamia Amari, who is known as @callmechamia on the platform, went through her home to point out the special locks and smart cameras she has purchased to make sure every entrance is secure — including her balcony.
‘TikTok made me buy it “Living Alone” edition because people is crazy. Period,’ the North Carolina resident said at the start of the helpful clip, which has been viewed more than 1.4 million times.

Chamia also has a portable lock that prevents people from opening her door from the outside for additional security. The Addalock, which is dubbed the ‘original’ portable door lock, sells for $17.95, though there are less expensive brands.
‘You can take this with you to a hotel, whatever. Basically, it sticks in the door,’ she explained. ‘You lock your door and it prevents people from coming in.’

Chamia was likely referring to a recent headline-making incident in which an intruder broke into a Maryland woman’s second-floor apartment through the balcony while she was filming a dance on TikTok.
She ended her video with a closeup of her Blurams indoor security cameras, which retails for just $21.75.
‘I have a camera just so I can see what’s going on in the inside because you never know,’ she explained. ‘That’s it. Y’all stay safe. Peace.’
