A rare card featuring the signatures of NBA legends Michael Jordan and the late Kobe Bryant is expected to fetch over $6 million at auction.

The highly coveted card – from the 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection – is currently up for grabs through Heritage Auctions.

As of Saturday morning, bidding had already soared past $5 million, with auction experts predicting a final sale price north of $6.1 million.

What makes the card so valuable? It’s the sole card produced that features both autographs of Jordan and Bryant, along with dual NBA Logoman patches.

There is one in the traditional red, white, and blue for Bryant, and a gold and white variation for Jordan.

According to TMZ, Chris Ivy, Director of Sports Auctions at Heritage, stated: ‘This Dual Logoman card offered in this auction is the only example created that includes only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

‘This makes it the most coveted example of the remarkable Upper Deck Logoman series, and due to Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing in 2020, it will forever remain the only one.’

The card is featured in Heritage’s Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction, taking place from August 23 to 24. Should it sell as anticipated, it will become the highest-priced basketball card ever sold at public auction.

According to Ivy, the card’s consignor has already fielded multiple seven-figure private offers, but opted to place it in public auction.

‘We’re confident that it could, and most likely will, establish a new world record when the final bid is placed,’ Ivy told TMZ.

If the Jordan–Bryant Dual Logoman card reaches its predicted price, it will exceed the most valuable basketball cards ever auctioned – including those of Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

In July 2021, a Stephen Curry 2009-10 Panini National Treasures Rookie Logoman Autograph card – serialized as 1-of-1 – was sold in a private transaction for an impressive $5.9 million.

Earlier that same year, a LeBron James 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Rookie Patch Autograph #78 sold for $5.2 million in a private sale.

Now, with bidding on the Jordan–Bryant Logoman card climbing, it appears poised to take the top spot  and cement its place as the most valuable basketball card ever.

Understandably so, given that both players featured on the card are titans of the sport.

Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and five-time MVP with the Chicago Bulls, retired in 1993 before returning to the league twice more, ultimately ending his career in 2003 after two seasons with the Washington Wizards.

Kobe Bryant, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in basketball history, spent his entire 20-season career with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA championships.

He tragically passed away in a 2020 helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, alongside his daughter Gianna and seven others.

With the world watching and bidding still underway, this extraordinary piece of basketball memorabilia is poised to make history – just like the two legends it honors.
