Protesters gathered at more than 300 events across the U.S. on Saturday, including in Washington, D.C., New York City and Houston, to demand access to abortion after a leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court showed a majority of the court agreeing to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that established the right under federal law to have an abortion.

Key Facts
The protests are taking place less than two weeks after Politico leaked a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito that states that “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.”
More than a dozen states have laws in place to almost immediately ban abortion if the court overturns Roe v. Wade, and the majority of the bans also make performing the procedure a felony.
