LOS ANGELES – Bad Bunny is all set to showcase his Latin trap and reggaeton flair at next year’s NFL’s prime event: He will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show in Northern California.

The NFL, along with Apple Music and Roc Nation, announced on Sunday that Bad Bunny will take center stage during the halftime show at Levi’s Stadium on February 8 in Santa Clara, California.

The choice of the Puerto Rican sensation coincides with a remarkable phase in his career: He recently concluded a groundbreaking residency in Puerto Rico, attracting over half a million fans, and he leads the nominations at the Latin Grammys this November. Renowned as one of the most streamed global artists, his album “Un Verano Sin Ti,” which is entirely in Spanish, is a major hit.

Bad Bunny will host “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 4.

In a statement, Bad Bunny expressed his emotions, saying, “What I’m feeling transcends my personal achievement. It honors those who paved the way for me to achieve this milestone… this is dedicated to my community, my culture, and our legacy. Tell your grandma that we will be the HALFTIME SHOW AT THE SUPER BOWL.”

Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation, remarked in a statement that Bad Bunny’s contributions to Puerto Rico are “truly inspiring,” and they feel privileged to feature him on the global stage.

At 31, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, widely known as Bad Bunny, has secured three Grammy awards and 12 Latin Grammys. He is an international Latin music ambassador, has starred in movies like “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing,” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” and has collaborated with leading fashion brands. Entering the Latin Grammys, he has received 12 nominations, surpassing the previous leader, producer, and songwriter Édgar Barrera.

Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the halftime show. Hamish Hamilton will serve as director.

“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment,” said Jon Barker, SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.

Last year, Kendrick Lamar shined with guest SZA in New Orleans, setting the record for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show with 133.5 million viewers. His performance surpassed the audience for Michael Jackson’s 1993 show.

“His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop-culture and we are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide,” said Oliver Schusser, the vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “We know this show will be unforgettable.”
