Millions more Epstein documents under review

The US Department of Justice has expanded its review of documents related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to 5.2 million as it also increases the number of attorneys trying to comply with a law mandating release of the files, according to a person briefed on a letter sent to US Attorneys.

The ongoing examination of case files involving Jeffrey Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell continues to grow, now extending beyond a congressional deadline by over a week. This development marks the latest estimate in the thorough review process.

Currently, the Department of Justice has a team of more than 400 attorneys diligently working on this extensive review. However, according to an anonymous source familiar with a recent letter, the release of additional documents is not expected until January 20 or 21. This source spoke on the condition of anonymity due to a lack of authorization to publicly discuss the matter.

Amidst this, Republican Representative Thomas Massie from Kentucky, who played a significant role in advocating for the law requiring the document’s release, posed a provocative question on social media: “Should Attorney General Pam Bondi be impeached?”

Meanwhile, Democrats are exploring their legal strategies as they leverage this contentious issue, which has not only exposed divisions within the Republican Party but also posed challenges to President Donald Trump’s administration.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer took to social media, criticizing the Department of Justice’s handling of the situation. He accused Bondi, Blanche, and other DOJ officials of misleading the public about the Epstein files since the beginning. Schumer emphasized that the documents made public so far represent only a small portion of the entire collection.
