Rey Mysterio appeared to suffer an injury during a match on SmackDown on Friday night in Las Vegas. Rey Mysterio and the LWO (Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix) battled American Made (Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers) in a six-man tag match.

It looked as if Mysterio suffered a lower-body injury, and he had to be helped to the backstage area by doctors. Fans caught the scene on video, and several outlets, including Fightful Wrestling, posted it on social media:

Mysterio was set to take on El Grande Americano, aka Gable, in what had the potential to be a pretty exciting match on Saturday during Night 1. However, if Mysterio is unable to go—which appears to be a real possibility—we could see one of his LWO teammates step in for him.

Dragon Lee or maybe newcomer Fenix will get the assignment. We seemed to be moving toward a clash between Fenix and EGA (Gable) at some point. However, chances are the plans were not to have them clash at WrestleMania 41.

It’ll be interesting to learn what the update is on Mysterio and, if he’s out, how long he’ll be sidelined. Mysterio turned 50 years old in December, so every injury is a bigger deal now than it might have been 20 or even 15 years ago for the legendary luchador.

We can only hope the injury isn’t too serious and that Mysterio can continue performing at the high level we’ve come to expect from him.

That said, Fenix vs. EGA might be an even better match—even though we could lose something from the program because things may have to be put together so quickly. We’ll know the deal in a few hours.
