Trump Rips U.N. at General Assembly for Failing to Broker Ceasefires, Peace Agreements

President Donald Trump, in his address to the United Nations (U.N.) General Assembly on Tuesday, expressed displeasure with the U.N. for not supporting his efforts in securing ceasefires and peace agreements since his return to office.

Trump began his speech by highlighting the significant conflicts he has resolved, such as those between Pakistan and India, Cambodia and Thailand, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as Israel and Iran. He also mentioned preventing an escalation between Serbia and Kosovo, according to reports from Turkish state media outlet Anadolu Ajansı.

He stated, “No other leader or country has achieved anything remotely similar, and I managed to accomplish this in just seven months. This level of success is unprecedented. I am truly honored to have made it happen.”

He then admonished the U.N. for what he said was a total lack of assistance.

He expressed regret, saying, “It’s unfortunate that I had to personally intervene in these matters rather than the United Nations. In all cases, the U.N. did not even attempt to get involved,” he remarked.

“I concluded seven wars, engaged with the leaders of these countries, yet never received a single offer of assistance from the United Nations to finalize these agreements,” he added.

Trump emphasized his achievements in conflict resolution while underscoring America’s renewed global respect. He also noted that almost all NATO member nations agreed in June to raise their defense spending contributions from two percent to five percent.

Trump further commended the trade deals he has made with numerous countries, including the massive trade agreement he reached with the European Union in July. To underscore the gravity of the deal, the United States and the EU exchanged more than €1.68 trillion, or roughly $1.8 trillion, in total trade of goods and services in 2024. This accounts for nearly 30 percent of all global trade and 43 percent of the global gross domestic product.

“On the world stage, America is respected again, like it has never been respected before,” Trump said. “You think about two years ago, three years ago, four years ago, or one year ago, we were a laughing stock all over the world.”
