Football fans have marvelled over Jadon Sancho’s Champions League performance against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday evening that saw the on-loan Manchester United forward score the opening goal.

Dortmund progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals after beating their Dutch opponents 3-1 on aggregate, with Sancho playing an integral part in the German team’s success.

The 23-year-old returned to his former employer in January on-loan from United for the rest of the season after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho’s existing contract in Manchester expires in 2026 and the winger is keen to leave the club after a career-worst spell that has also coincided with him falling out of the England set-up.

A goal in Dortmund’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend marked his first strike since returning to his former club and followed it up with another goal in the Champions League knockout clash.

PSV’s run in the competition has come to an end largely due to Sancho’s stunning performance that has fans insisting he is back to his best.

‘This is the Jadon Sancho we all know,’ said one excited supporter on X after his opening goal.

Another similar comment stated: ‘Jadon Sancho doing his thing on a UCL night? Oh but I was told…’

Dortmund want to bring the winger back on a permanent transfer in the summer but are concerned about the price they are likely to be quoted by United.

In response to their pursuit, another supporter posted online after Wednesday’s game: ‘That’ll be an extra £10M to Sancho’s price tag.’

Another fan hailed the England star’s return to Dortmund, rejoicing: ‘Jadon Sancho still is the same old baller and this is his family.’

Sancho was given a standing ovation by home supporters at the Signal Iduna Park after being substituted in the 75th minute.

The former Man City academy graduate provided creative flair and spark that wreaked havoc on PSV’s defence throughout the match and was rewarded with the Champions League man of the match title for his performance.
