How to Watch

Watch Next Gen NYC on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock.

Next Gen NYC‘s Ariana Biermann doesn’t mess around when it comes to bestie Riley Burruss — even if that means calling out Gia Giudice.

In Season 1, Episode 7, most of the cast gathered to celebrate Brooks Marks’ birthday with a beachside dinner at the Jersey Shore, where Georgia McCann shared her idea for a bowling-themed nightclub. Riley candidly remarked, “It’s a terrible idea,” leading Gia to respond, “Don’t be nasty.”

Riley apologized for her “really bad” delivery, but Gia added, “It was just rude, babe. It just seemed rude.”

The tension increased when The Real Housewives of New Jersey daughter commented, “I think when you get a little tipsy, you get a little rough.”

That’s when Ariana entered the chat to defend Riley: “Wait. Hold on. When she’s sober, she acts the same. She will tell somebody exactly how it is.”

Gia replied, “Yes, but I don’t think it’s triggered as easily. … I’m just saying, like, I see her sober; I see her when she’s drunk. I see where the switch can flip a little bit is what I’m just saying. And I’m just saying [that], like, to help her.”

Why Ariana Biermann called out Gia Giudice

After asking “why the f–k” she would say that, Riley got upset and left the table, but the heated discussion raged on.

“Sorry, she’s been drinking this entire weekend. Like, I have to say it at some point,” Gia said, prompting Ariana to clap back, “Has everybody at this table not been doing it the entire weekend though?”

The two continued to bicker back and forth about whether or not Riley gets “nasty when she drinks,” but most the audio was drowned out by drama-averse Brooks’ internal monologue about “disengaging” a la mom Meredith Marks.

“Gia’s my girl, but sometimes it’s like, ‘OK, just shut the f–k up, Gia. We don’t need to say that or address that,’” Ariana added in a confessional. “She comes in like mom. Like, everybody’s drinking. How’s your glass of wine, Gia?”

The two eventually made peace, though, with Ariana eventually insisting she was “not trying to come at” Gia, who, for her part, admitted that she understood why she would “defend” her fellow The Real Housewives of Atlanta daughter.

Riley Burruss opens up about Gia Giudice’s “harsh” comment

In her own confessional interview, Riley said, “I definitely think that no matter what I do, somehow Gia always kind of has an issue with me.”

Later, she elaborated, “I’m definitely confused as to why this message is coming from Gia. We are both harsh, quote, unquote, in our own ways. And so, for her to be able to say the things she does and me not be able to, I just feel like there’s a big double standard.”

After Shai Fruchter consoled Riley away from the group — and she let out a cathartic scream inside an outdoor shower — she returned to the table and also made amends with Gia, explaining that she didn’t mean for things to get so “heated” and just wanted them to have a great rest of the night.

As the Next Gen NYC cast continues to navigate their lives in the Big Apple, find out where Riley and Gia’s friendship stands today.
