By late 2012, he had coined the Twitter hashtag #DramaAlert, leading to the launch of his DramaAlert YouTube channel in mid-2014. In 2010, he was involved in a swatting incident where someone falsely reported a hostage situation at his home. That same year, he sparked controversy by encouraging his followers to use a racial slur against a BattleCam.com moderator. In 2011, Keemstar became part-owner of the Xbox Live game “FortressCraft,” which sold over two million copies. Additionally, he co-organized the first “Billionaire’s Challenge” tournament. In 2012, he launched the “Bad Kids” podcast with fellow YouTuber ONLYUSEmeBLADE. In 2016, he stirred up further controversy with a tweet about YouTuber TotalBiscuit, who was terminally ill at the time; Keemstar later apologized for his insensitive remarks.

In 2016, Keemstar mistakenly accused RuneScape streamer Tony Winchester, known as RSGloryandGold, of pedophilia, confusing him with a convicted sex offender. After realizing his error, he apologized, fired an editor, removed the videos, and offered Winchester $1,000, which was declined. In 2018, he initiated the “Fortnite Friday” tournament, followed by “Minecraft Monday” in 2019. In April 2019, Keemstar interviewed YouTuber Etika on DramaAlert, where Etika made concerning statements about life and death. Tragically, Etika died by suicide two months later. Despite this, a 2020 exposé by YouTuber Ethan Klein accused Keemstar of exploiting Etika, resulting in Keemstar losing a sponsorship deal with G Fuel.
