Patrick Cantlay had a broken back due to a stress fracture in the L5 vertebrae.

In May 2013, it started with extreme pain like that of a knife struck at his back during making a swing on the range at Colonia.

While some doctors even told him that he might never get back to golfing again, he sure needed a lot of rest. Later, with months of daily physical therapy for a few hours, Patrick was back with his healed back.

In the meantime, when he was recovering during 2014, 2015, and 2016, he lost his best friend, Chris Roth in a hit and run case when the two were crossing a road in February 2016.

Patrick had to deal with the physical pain with an additional emotional pain of losing his dear friend who caddied him during his amateur golfing career.

It was his father Steve Cantlay and grandpa Pat Cantlay that Patrick Cantlay inherited and learned the golf skills from.

Married to his wife Colleen Neylan Cantlay, Steve is also a former club champion of the Virginia County club, Long Beach.

The native of Long Beach, California, however is no longer in the golfing prime and now an inspirational in the family for his children.

To add more, the whole Cantlay family has a strong bond with golf where Patrick’s siblings Caroline, Nick, and Jack are also into professional golfing.

Furthermore, Patrick Cantlay is said to have accumulated a net worth of almost $17 million dollars.

Ranked 8th with PGA earnings of $5,928,805, his total career earning sums up to $19,952,121.

Similarly, if he defeats Bryson DeChambeau in the BMW Championship finale tonight, he will be adding the grand winning prize of $9,500,000 to his name.
