Stephen Curry is preparing for his 18th NBA season, a remarkable run spent entirely with the Golden State Warriors. Golden State selected the guard seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft, and the partnership has produced 11 All-NBA honors, 12 All-Star appearances, two MVP awards, and four championships. Curry has also led the NBA in scoring twice and remains the league’s all-time leader in three-point field goals.
With Curry’s current contract set to expire after the upcoming season, the Warriors moved quickly to secure their franchise cornerstone. The team agreed to a two-year extension worth $116 million that begins in 2027-28 and includes a player option for the second season. If he exercises that option, Curry will determine whether to play the final year at age 40.
The agreement also represents a financial concession from Curry. He could have earned roughly $20 million more over the life of the contract, meaning Golden State will save approximately $10 million per season. That flexibility could help the Warriors retain players such as Jimmy Butler on longer deals or pursue another impact free agent in the Bay Area.

According to Spotrac, Curry has earned slightly more than $470.1 million during his NBA career. He is scheduled to make just under $62.6 million in the upcoming season, before the extension takes effect. If he picks up the second-year option, his career earnings from NBA contracts will approach $650 million by the time the deal ends.
Should Curry remain highly productive and maintain his elite shooting touch, another contract with Golden State could be possible. A two-year, $100 million deal for a player entering his age-41 season would be substantial, but Curry and the Warriors will have shared nearly two decades by then. The franchise could still decide to reward its longtime star with a lucrative final contract, potentially pushing his on-court earnings beyond $750 million.
Curry’s financial success extends well beyond his NBA salary. His business portfolio includes endorsement partnerships with Under Armour, Li-Ning, and Google, among other major brands. Through Unanimous Media, his production company, he has helped create several shows, while the Underrated Golf Tour has expanded access, opportunity, and equity for young golfers.
Combined with his Warriors contracts and endorsement income, Curry has earned more than $1 billion during his NBA career. It is an extraordinary outcome for an undersized two-guard entering the league out of college. Curry has become one of the wealthiest athletes in basketball history while establishing himself as the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.
