Murphy died in an apparent drowning in Thailand’s Samut Prakan province on July 7, 2026. According to local outlets Bangkok Post and Thairath, authorities were called to a luxury rental property at around 3 p.m. local time after reports of a man behaving erratically. When police arrived, the outlets reported, Murphy jumped into a nearby lake, swam for several minutes and then appeared to become exhausted before drowning.
Police told the outlets that rescue divers later recovered Murphy’s body about 20 meters from the shore. Officials reportedly said there were no visible signs of assault, and an autopsy was ordered. Investigators also reportedly found two unused syringes and several white pills inside a bag in his vehicle.
According to the Bangkok Post, Murphy and his unnamed 22-year-old girlfriend had rented the luxury property for a three-month stay. Police reportedly found that much of the home had been vandalized with black and yellow paint, which Murphy’s girlfriend told authorities had happened overnight while she was asleep.
His girlfriend reportedly told police that Murphy’s behavior was out of character and that she had never seen him act that way before. She said the two had been together for three years, though they had only started living together a few months before the incident.

The minute-long video appeared to touch on the subject of death and showed Murphy dancing, bouncing a basketball and pretending to play a mini violin while rock music played in the background.
At the end, he said people “have an unhealthy relationship with death.” The caption read, “Obituary Pending. This is purely a satirical acting performance. This dramatization does not depict any true events. Nothing in this video should be replicated and everything performed abides by all laws and regulations.”
Some of his followers have described his final YouTube upload as “basically a suicide note.”
Tribute
Fitness coach Patrick Lyons paid tribute to Murphy in a lengthy Instagram post. Lyons wrote that Murphy “fundamentally changed the course of my life due to the impact he had on my content and my following.” He further alleged Murphy “experimented with an illicit, extremely powerful drug in 2020 that unveiled a previously-unknown underlying mental illness” and led to “a psychotic break that turned Connor into someone far different from the person I once knew.”
Lyons then speculated on Connor Murphy’s cause of death, saying, “He was in a state of mania or psychosis, likely due to PEDs + mind-altering drugs.”
