Angharad Reed Biography – Angharad Reed Wiki

Meet Angharad Reed, a talented Welsh potter and ceramic artist who has captured the spotlight as a contestant on the 2026 edition of The Great Pottery Throw Down. Angharad is the creative force behind Crock-Â-Shwt, a boutique pottery studio based in Cardiff, South Wales, known for its exquisite stoneware ceramics. Her journey into pottery was fueled by a passion for both illustration and clay, leading her to establish Crock-Â-Shwt.

Angharad’s work is distinguished by her vibrant use of color and graphic imagery, crafting pieces that tell compelling stories and celebrate contemporary ceramic design. After extensive experimentation, she has embraced sgraffito—a technique that involves scratching the surface to reveal underlying layers—as her signature style. The term “sgraffito” is derived from the Italian word meaning “scratched.”

Since venturing into pottery in 2018, Angharad has been deeply inspired by her Welsh roots. Her business name, Crock-Â-Shwt, honors her heritage and family history. Shwt is a quaint village in South Wales where her great-grandparents once owned a farm. Her great-grandmother, Winnie Watkins, was known for adorning her garden walls with colorful shards of broken pottery, a tradition Angharad fondly remembers.

Angharad is an active member of South Wales Potters (SWP), which boasts over 350 members and is one of the largest communities of professional and amateur ceramicists in the UK. Among her colleagues in SWP is fellow contestant Bill Rolls, with whom she competes in this year’s series of the popular Channel 4 show.
