Rhoda Magbitang, the culinary maestro at CanoeHouse within Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection in Hawaii, brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as Executive Chef at esteemed establishments like Petit Ermitage, Chateau Marmont, and The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern. Originally from Antipolo, she is also a contender in Top Chef 2026.
Growing up in the Philippines as the eldest of six, Rhoda’s passion for cooking was ignited in her family’s kitchen, inspired by her grandmother’s food stall and the rich tapestry of Filipino cuisine she mastered early on. With chores divvied up among family members, she gravitated towards cooking, taking on the responsibility of preparing meals for her siblings.
At 17, Rhoda relocated to the United States with an initial interest in early childhood education. However, her culinary dreams led her to Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, California, where she honed her skills.
Rhoda’s impressive career includes stints at some of the nation’s top kitchens, such as the Michelin-starred Mélisse, A.O.C. by Suzanne Goin, République, and Bazaar by José Andrés. She later excelled as the Executive Chef at Chateau Marmont and spearheaded the culinary team at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern in the Auberge Collection, gaining accolades from the Michelin Guide.
As the pioneering female Executive Chef of CanoeHouse at Mauna Lani, she infuses Hawaiian Regional cuisine with Japanese-inspired techniques and modern flavors. Her philosophy emphasizes sustainability and the use of seasonal ingredients.

Season 23 is centered in the emerging and eclectic culinary hub of Charlotte, N.C., with several episodes in Greenville, S.C.
For the first time in Top Chef history, the Season 23 contestants include life partners, Jennifer Lee Jackson and Justin Tootla, who co-own and operate a restaurant, as well as a pair of highly competitive identical twin brothers, Jonathan and Brandon Dearden.
