Growing up in Sunderland, Maryland, Anthony’s passion for the culinary arts took root during his middle school years. “It’s always been something that I watched, especially when I went to culinary school,” Anthony told Washingtonian. “It was a nice challenge for me. It’s a very serious competition. It’s nothing that we normally handle on a regular basis. There are elements of course that correlate with regular restaurant life, but Top Chef takes it even further.”
