Mexican official Sandra Elizabeth Ramirez Aleman, widely known as Sandra Ramirez, has earned recognition as a FIFA assistant referee. A native of Oaxaca de Juárez, she was chosen to work at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Ramirez made her first appearance at the tournament on June 14, 2026, serving as reserve assistant referee for the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw with Japan at Dallas Stadium. The officiating team for that match was headed by Moroccan-born American referee Ismail Elfath, with Corey Parker and Kyle Atkins as assistant referees, Katia Garcia as fourth official, and Armando Villareal handling VAR duties.
Before her World Cup assignment, Ramirez had already built an extensive résumé on the international stage. She worked as an assistant referee at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
