Christmas ads in July – too early or right on time?

Christmas decorations seem to go up earlier every year but with December still five months away, is July simply too early?

As Australians continue to struggle with what has been a devastating year, Bakers Delight have launched a Christmas in July campaign to bring some joy amid the hardship of coronavirus.

While it may not be a popular holiday celebration for most Aussie households, the company said people are looking for something to cheer them up and what better way than some mid-year Christmas spirit?

“We’re very community focused, and we’re always keeping an eye on what’s going and reading the mood,” Bakers Delight spokesman Scott Darkin told nine.com.au.

“Christmas in July is one of those things that popped up as a possible idea for something fun.

“There’s a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment and we felt this was something that was more fun and light-hearted to bring into the community.”

“We have several bakeries, mostly in metropolitan NSW and Victoria that said they wanted to do it,” Mr Darkin said.

“But those that put their hand up for it felt it was something that would be well received by their local communities,” Mr Darkin said.

With Christmas being all about family, friends, community and giving back – it seemed like the perfect antidote amid difficult times.

“It’s nice to know that despite everything happening there’s still positives and there’s always good vibes around Christmas,” he said.
