A woman from Washington has been taken into custody on charges of sexually abusing a teenage boy, who is reportedly the father of her baby born earlier this year.
The authorities became involved when 43-year-old Robyn Polston gave birth in January, and suspicions arose regarding the baby’s paternity. Initially, Polston claimed that the father was a man in his 20s whom she hadn’t seen since the birth. However, DNA tests later revealed that the father was actually a minor boy, as reported by WMBD.
Back in 2023, Polston had served as a chaperone at a school dance attended by the boy. Although he had relocated, the teen frequently returned to the area to visit a friend.
Prosecutors revealed that Polston and the boy used burner phones, adopting pseudonyms to keep their identities hidden. Nevertheless, an examination of these phones uncovered explicit photos and videos of the two, according to WEEK.
Polston now faces charges of criminal sexual assault and possession of child pornography. A judge has decided to keep her in custody, as Tazewell County prosecutors expressed concerns that she might continue to contact the victim if released. They also suggested that Polston’s mother and sister were complicit in her illegal activities, according to WEEK.
Robyn Polston is scheduled to appear in court again on December 4.
