In Alabama, authorities have taken a significant step in the case of a missing toddler by arresting her mother on charges of providing false information to law enforcement.
The Enterprise Police Department announced that 33-year-old Adrienne Reid has been detained in connection with the disappearance of her daughter, 2-year-old Genesis Reid.
Initially, Reid reported to the police that she discovered her daughter missing early Monday morning, with a door found ajar, as noted in a CrimeOnline article. However, neighbors have contradicted this account, stating they hadn’t seen the child since early January, while previously observing her frequently during walks with her mother.
Despite a thorough search of the local vicinity, authorities found no trace of Genesis. As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered inconsistencies in Reid’s statements.
The investigation has now expanded with the involvement of federal, state, and additional local agencies, yet the Enterprise Police continue to spearhead the effort.
Authorities are also seeking information about an individual known as “Moriah,” who is considered a person of interest in the case, although not currently a suspect.
Reid is currently being held without bond, WTVY reported. Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox told the station he plans to ask a judge at Reid’s first hearing to set bail outside the guidelines for a false reporting charge.
Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Genesis Reid is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
