The search continues for an 11-year-old New York boy who has not been seen in weeks.
According to sources cited by the New York Post, the Administration for Children’s Services carried out a welfare check at a Brooklyn apartment on September 25. Caseworkers searched the premises but did not find the boy, and his mother allegedly did not provide a birth certificate.
A subsequent welfare check was requested on Wednesday, prompting the agency to revisit the apartment, this time accompanied by NYPD officers. Authorities again found no signs of the boy living there, as reported by the New York Post.
During the visit on Wednesday, a K-9 cadaver dog reportedly detected human blood on a refrigerator, despite the apartment lacking electricity. The 50-year-old woman, who initially denied being the boy’s mother, was taken into custody.
WABC identified the missing child as Jacob Pritchette, who is autistic. Neighbors claimed he hasn’t been seen for weeks, and sources informed the news outlet that he had never attended public school.
Neighbors also revealed to News12 that the mother was heard yelling at Pritchette before he disappeared.
The New York Post reported that Pritchette’s mother is currently hospitalized as an emotionally disturbed person. As of Friday, she has not been charged with any crime.
Officials have not released a photo of the missing boy.
