Arizona Woman Admits Slitting Boyfriend’s Throat, Declares ‘Independence Day’

An Arizona woman made a chilling declaration, saying, “Today is my independence day,” before allegedly attacking her boyfriend by slashing his throat, authorities reported.

Last Thursday, Tamala Rudeseal, 52, contacted emergency services shortly after 8 p.m., admitting to the dispatcher that she had attempted to murder her boyfriend, as detailed in court documents cited by KTVK.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the victim with a severe laceration extending from his left ear to the middle of his neck. He was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment, while Rudeseal was arrested at the scene. Investigators recovered a large folding hunting knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Detectives revealed that the victim, who had been in a relationship with Rudeseal for 11 years, described her as being in a state of depression due to the holiday season. The couple had reportedly engaged in an argument earlier that day.

The victim recounted that he had been asleep when he was suddenly awakened by a sharp pain in his neck, fearing for his life. He managed to apply pressure to the wound with his shirt until emergency personnel arrived.

In her statement to detectives, Rudeseal confessed to the attempted murder.

“I hope he is dead,” she allegedly said. “It’d be a favor to me, his wife, and his children.”

Rudeseal has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. She’s being held on a $1 million bond.
