An Everett man, identified as an armed career criminal, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder that occurred in Somerville in 2017.

Armed Career Criminal Charged With Life Sentence For The Murder of Somerville Football Standout|iPleaders

Armed career criminal, Tony Dyshaun Harris,34, has been sentenced to life in prison by Middlesex Judge Cathleen Campbell.

Armed career criminal, Harris was found guilty by a Superior Court jury in June for the murder of the football standout Kevin Raymond, a 20-year-old resident of Somerville. Armed career criminal, Harris, was charged with life  imprisonment sentence.

Raymond was said to be a talented athlete who excelled in football during his time at Somerville High School, tragically murdered by the armed career criminal, Harris, just before his 21st birthday. He had also played on the sprint football team at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire as a freshman.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office provided this information, in late July, during a bench trial, Judge Campbell, deemed Harris guilty of being an armed career criminal. This armed career criminal conviction was based on the charges of armed assault to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon from 2007.

Armed career criminal, Harris, has also been convicted by the Middlesex Superior Court jury for illegally possessing and carrying a firearm, as well as ammunition.

On October 14, 2017, the Somerville Police received a report of gunshots on Jacques Street. When they arrived, they discovered a revolver and a gold chain in the parking lot behind a housing development managed by the Somerville Housing Authority.

After investigating, authorities found that the revolver and gold chain had the DNA of the armed career criminal, Harris, on them. They also discovered that the victim of the armed career criminal, Raymond, who had been shot three times and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The investigation found that the car seen in multiple videos of the armed career criminal, Harris, driving away from the scene of the shooting matched the vehicle that had been in the area before and after the incident. Inside the car, authorities discovered Raymond’s belongings, confirming his presence. It was revealed that the armed career criminal, Harris’ was not in custody at the time of the murder as charges against him in a previous drug case had been dropped, according to court records.

Aside from the killing, the aforementioned armed career criminal also have an extensive history of criminal charges.
