Woman shot ex-husband to death, stuffed him in closet: Cops

A South Carolina woman stands accused of killing her ex-husband and stuffing him in the closet.

Joyanna Black Vansant has been charged with murder and with possessing a weapon during a violent crime. According to local media sources, the Horry County Coroner identified the deceased as 60-year-old Frederick Vansant, Jr.

The suspect allegedly opened the door covered in blood when cops were conducting a welfare check on her ex-husband’s home.

The Horry County Police Department’s officers entered the residence for a protective sweep and discovered the ex-husband’s body concealed in a closet, showing signs of gunshot wounds, as noted in an agency press release.

Joyanna Vansant was arrested and taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Police mentioned that the suspect no longer resided at the home. The motive for the crime has not been disclosed, and the probable cause arrest affidavit was not immediately accessible.
