Two drive-by shootings in western Sydney within one hour

Authorities have determined that there is no connection between two separate shootings that occurred in western Sydney on the same night, despite the incidents taking place only 50 minutes apart.

The first incident unfolded around 11 p.m. on O’Connor Street in Guildford, where a man was targeted in a drive-by shooting. While walking, he was struck in the legs by bullets fired from a dark-coloured hatchback. Police discovered the injured man in a driveway and administered first aid until paramedics arrived to transport him to the hospital. Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition.

According to the police, the gunmen fired from within the vehicle, hitting the victim in the right calf and left foot, before fleeing the scene at high speed.

Less than an hour later, at 11:50 p.m., another shooting occurred on O’Neill Street, also in Guildford. This time, shots were fired at a residence from a dark grey Hyundai i30. The bullets shattered a window, but none of the home’s occupants were harmed.

Then at 11.50pm, shots were fired into a home at nearby O’Neill Street in Guildford, from a dark grey Hyundai i30 before it drove off.

Three bullets hit a window in the property but the occupants were not injured.

Police set up crime scenes at both locations, but this morning said there was no confirmed link between the two incident, and the two caers involved.

Officers later found two burned-out cars in the driveway homes of Greenacre in western Sydney, which are being treated as suspicious.

“At this time, no links between have been established between the fires, and no links have been identified between these fires and two separate shootings which occurred in Guildford earlier in the night,” a police statement said.

Anyone with information into either incident or dashcam footage is urged to call Cumberland police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
