A New York man reportedly tried to kill his mother and father on Christmas after they tried to stop him from leaving with his 1-year-old son.

Dino Tomassetti, 29, is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting his father, Rocco Tomassetti, 65, in the back and wrist and his mother, Vincenza Marsicano-Tomassetti, 64, in the head at their $3 million Long Island mansion early Saturday. The New York Post reported that the suspect’s son and the child’s mother were in the room when the shooting occurred.

According to the news outlet, Dino Tomassetti got into an argument with his parents at the residence — which escalated when he tried to leave with his son.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said the mother and father “objected” to Dino Tomassetti leaving with his son, leading him to brandish a pistol and shoot his parents, the Post also reported.

Prosecutors said Dino Tomasetti was six to 15 feet away from his mother when he shot her in the head.

“He struck his father then in the head with the gun numerous times after he ran out of bullets,” Ryder alleged.

The mother and father reportedly underwent surgery and were released from the hospital earlier this week.

Dino Tomassetti was arrested in Bergen County, New Jersey, after police used GPS to track the Cadillac Escalade he used to flee the scene.

Ryder said the shooting suspect did not have a license to own a pistol in Nassau County, though he did not have a criminal history.

Dino Tomasetti, who remains jailed without bail, is expected back in court on January 5.  Meanwhile, a Nassau County judge issued orders of protection for DinoTomassetti’s parents, his infant son, and his son’s mother.
