Bones were discovered Thursday during the ongoing manhunt for Travis Decker, a man accused of killing his children earlier this year.
As reported by The Wenatchee World, investigators have discovered bones in Chelan County, Washington, during their ongoing search for 33-year-old Decker.
He’s sought in connection to the deaths of his three young daughters earlier this year.
“During a grid search conducted by over 100 search personnel, bones were found,” stated Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison. “At the moment, it was uncertain if they were animal or human remains, so these were sent to the anthropology department at Central Washington University for verification.”
“We remain deeply committed to the significance of this case, both for the family and our community… We are doing everything possible to ensure this case remains active and does not become forgotten,” the sheriff added.
As previously highlighted by CrimeOnline, officers from the Wenatchee Police Department found 9-year-old Paityn Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker deceased near the Rock Island Campground on June 2.
Police suspect that Decker killed them during a planned visitation and then fled.
DNA analysis confirmed that the former Army soldier is the only suspect in the gruesome crime.
The children were discovered with plastic bags over their heads; two had two bags, while the third had three. DNA found on the bags matched either their father or the girls themselves.
The conclusion of DNA tests affirms that Travis Decker is the sole suspect linked to these murders, according to the sheriff’s office.
Morrison added that the FBI would be returning in a few weeks to continue the search.
