BOULDER, Colo. – Two men face dozens of charges after a string of break-ins across Boulder County, dating back to last year, officials said Thursday.

Tanner Valdez, 26, and Matthew Moore, 25, are being charged with 67 felonies and 20 misdemeanors, including motor vehicle theft, burglary and theft over $35,000, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges involved 39 cases – 20 from Boulder, 11 from the sheriff’s office, three from Broomfield and one each from Lafayette, Erie, Nederland, Golden and Park County. Authorities began investigating the burglaries last summer.

Valdez and Moore broke into vehicles, homes and garages, stealing vehicles in some of the cases, the sheriff’s office said. All of the burglarized vehicles and garages had been left unlocked.

Investigators issued an arrest warrant for the pair on July 10, but Valdez was already serving a five-year prison sentence for motor vehicle theft. He was waiting this week to be taken to the Boulder County Jail, to face charges in the new case.

Moore was arrested by Wheat Ridge police on July 17 in a vehicle that had been stolen in Erie, the sheriff’s office said.
