Breaking News: Deputies Recover Million Worth of Stolen iPhones on I-75 Heist

By Staff Reporter

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A significant arrest unfolded yesterday when police intercepted a U-Haul truck on Interstate 75, discovering inside an astonishing haul of stolen iPhones valued at over $2 million.

The arrest of 61-year-old Jeffery Lydell Moore was the culmination of efforts by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) and the Miami-Dade Police Department. On the evening of March 19, deputies received intel that the truck, implicated in a larger organized retail crime investigation, was making its way north along I-75 near mile marker 380. Authorities were also armed with a detailed description of the suspect.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers soon spotted the U-Haul at mile marker 392. They conducted a traffic stop with the support of ASO deputies, leading to the detention of Moore, who fit the suspect’s description. Upon inspection, the trove of stolen iPhones was discovered inside the vehicle.

Moore now faces serious charges, including grand theft, conspiracy to commit theft, and engaging in an organized scheme to defraud. The determination of his bail will take place in Miami-Dade County, where a judge will set the terms.
