Young woman charged over 'extremely serious' alleged plot to kill top crime gang figure

A 23-year-old woman from Sydney has been arrested in connection with a serious plot involving a prominent crime figure, a case authorities are describing as “extremely serious.”

The arrest occurred during a police raid at a residence in Whalan, located in Sydney’s western suburbs, early yesterday morning.

According to police statements, the woman allegedly played a critical role as part of a scheme targeting a key member of the Alameddine crime syndicate.

Investigators allege her involvement included orchestrating major criminal activities such as shootings, murder conspiracies, weapons offenses, and the staging of getaway vehicles.

Superintendent Jason Box commented on the evolving nature of these criminal activities, noting a shift from young men with minimal criminal backgrounds being recruited to now seeing young women implicated in such operations.

“These individuals are found in vehicles, armed with knives, ready to act when a target appears, actively participating in murder conspiracies,” Box remarked.

“It is concerning that it is young men and women committing these acts.”

Box said that the figure who was allegedly targeted has “been spoken to and is aware of the threats on his life”.

Police gave chase after the trio were reportedly seen acting suspiciously outside of a Wentworthville Leagues Club.

The car was intercepted by police during a pursuit on the M4, one of Sydney’s busiest motorways.

During a search of the car, officers allegedly found a semi-automatic rifle, a pistol and cloned number plates.

The firearms, the vehicle and the plates were all seized for forensic examination.

The chase ended on one of Sydney's busiest motorways.

The three men – one aged 28 and two aged 24 – were charged and remain before the courts.

Detectives later established a link between the vehicle and plates to three public place shootings in Colyton, St Johns Park and Panania earlier this year.

The 23-year-old woman has been charged with conspiring to murder and participating in criminal group activity.

“Detectives will allege in court that this 23-year-old female was involved in the coordination of serious organised crime, including the incident at Wentworth Leagues Club.”

She was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Subbard are ongoing, and police say they expect more charges to be laid in relation to the conspiracy to murder the underworld figure.
