On Monday, authorities unveiled new video footage and images of a suspect linked to the fatal mass shooting that occurred on Saturday at Brown University in Rhode Island.
The FBI has also announced a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for the attack. This announcement came after Providence Police cleared a previously detained person of interest, who had been apprehended by federal agents at a hotel in Coventry, according to a report by WLNE.
The newly released images depict a man dressed in dark attire, including a black face mask, as he walks away from Brown University’s engineering building, the site of the tragic incident.
The shooting claimed the lives of two students and injured nine others. At the time of the attack, students were in the midst of final exams in Barus and Holley Hall, as reported by CrimeOnline.
Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez shared on Monday that the assailant used a 9mm firearm in the attack, a detail reported by the Providence Journal.
“What I can tell you is that this individual definitely targeted Brown University,” Chief Perez stated, although he refrained from elaborating on the reasons why investigators believe the university was singled out.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said Monday afternoon that the killer used a 9mm firearm, the Providence Journal said.
“What I can tell you is that this individual definitely targeted Brown University,” Perez said, although he did not indicate why investigators believe the school was targeted.
Officials are investigating claims that the murderer yelled something during the shooting, but those reports have not been confirmed. Perez also said, without explanation, that the IRS is assisting with the investigation.
