A U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant was fatally shot while riding electric scooters with friends in Washington state, according to authorities.
Isaiah Bolar, 18, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Connor Overstreet, 29, reported MyNorthwest. King County court records reviewed by Law&Crime also list a charge of attempting to elude a police vehicle.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Aug. 23 near South 124th Street and South Langston Road in Bryn Mawr-Skyway, an unincorporated community roughly south of Seattle. Overstreet and two friends were traveling on Lime electric scooters when the encounter unfolded.
At the same time, a Toyota Prius was passing through the area. People inside the vehicle reportedly exchanged words with the group of scooter riders as the car drove by.
Authorities say Bolar was among the occupants of the Prius.
Although the vehicle initially continued down the road, it apparently stopped moments later. When Overstreet approached the passenger side, he was shot in the chest. The Prius then reportedly sped away from the scene.

Investigators have said Bolar either fired the weapon himself or assisted another person who pulled the trigger.
Emergency crews responded, but Overstreet was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two days later, on Aug. 25, police in Kent—about 10 miles south of Skyway—located a Prius matching the vehicle description. Authorities said one passenger exited the car, carrying a backpack that he then placed in a trash can.
Police subsequently arrested Bolar and questioned the passenger. According to investigators, Bolar had handed him the backpack and told him, “Take this.” Officers said the bag contained a Ruger .357 believed to be the firearm used in the shooting.
Investigators also determined that Bolar’s cellphone was near the location of the shooting when it occurred before traveling along the same route as the Prius, authorities said.
Bolar is scheduled to appear in court next week. The charges remain allegations unless proven in court.
