Inset: Olivia Clendenin (Warren County Sheriff’s Office). Background: The 5500 block of Dearth Road in Warren County, Ohio, where Olivia Clendenin opened fire on a house where her estranged husband and new boyfriend were hanging out (Google Maps).
In Ohio, a woman, infuriated by her estranged husband and new boyfriend socializing at a party, resorted to gunfire, hitting an unsuspecting guest on the porch, prosecutors revealed. Last week, she was found guilty of attempted murder along with several other charges linked to the shooting incident.
“She drove onto the lawn and discharged her weapon towards the house,” explained a Clearcreek Township police sergeant, following the January 2024 incident, as reported by the Dayton Daily News.
Olivia Clendenin, the woman involved, faced conviction last Friday when a Warren County jury found her guilty on four counts, which included two charges of felonious assault, firing a weapon into a dwelling, and attempted murder, according to local NBC affiliate WLWT.
The incident stemmed from Clendenin’s frustration with her estranged husband and boyfriend, whom she discovered at a New Year’s Eve gathering. After initially leaving the event in anger, she returned around 5 a.m., firing shots at the house while driving her mother’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A 29-year-old man, standing on the porch, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
According to the Daily News, a grand jury report stated, “The defendant attempted to cause another’s death by firing a gun from a vehicle. The defendant inflicted severe harm on the individual shot and was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the offense.”
Clendenin crashed her mom’s Jeep after the shooting while fleeing. Cops said she struck a guardrail and a utility pole while going around a curve.
Clearcreek police arrested Clendenin, who pleaded not guilty, at the crash scene. She was released after posting bail and has been on electronic home detention, with a no-contact order in effect for witnesses involved in her case.
A sentencing date has not been listed in her online case file yet.
