NEWBERRY, Fla. – In a recent court decision, 46-year-old Carrie Elizabeth Webb has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being convicted of burglarizing her former workplace while attempting to hide her identity with a mask.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on June 29, 2023, at Enos Nail Salon, located at 13005 SW 1st Road, Suite 133, in Newberry, where approximately $700 was reported stolen.
Webb, who had been dismissed from her position at the salon roughly a month prior to the burglary, was responsible for managing the business’s cash during her employment. Surveillance footage captured her approaching the salon in disguise, wearing a mask, hoodie, and gloves. She was seen entering a code into the key box, retrieving the key, and unlocking the door. Webb then headed straight to the drawer containing the bank bag, from which she took $650, followed by an additional $50 from the cash register. The entire theft was completed in just two minutes.
By April 2024, when the formal complaint was filed, Webb had relocated to New Smyrna Beach. Law enforcement apprehended her in St. Johns County shortly thereafter, and she was released on bail.
In March 2026, Webb faced formal charges for the burglary of an unoccupied structure while disguised. However, the charge of theft was not pursued in court.
On April 1, 2026, a jury found her guilty of burglary while wearing a mask to conceal her identity, and Judge Robert Groeb sentenced her to 10 years in state prison. Webb has appealed the verdict.
