During Monday’s episode of Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, a forensic investigator disclosed that Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the University of Idaho deaths, had been viewing the podcast on his phone.
Heather Barnhart, the chief digital forensic investigator for the Kohberger case, informed Grace, “It appears he watched your show, Crime Stories, on YouTube, and snippets were stored on his device. The phone automatically caches small segments and keeps them saved.”
Forensic psychologist Caryn Stark said the snippets show what the murderer is “obsessed about.”
“It certainly makes sense for him to be following you and the show,” she remarked. “I can’t think of a more fitting source for him to watch.”
Grace described the news as “really freaky — watching Crime Stories and/or me to the point his phone saves it?”
Cold Case Foundation director Chris McDonough viewed Kohberger as “like a scientist that looks at bugs.”
“He seems to be trying to learn from you, so his perspective might differ,” she noted. “While we may not fully grasp his motives, we can identify his thought process and his actions.”
