A Florida man who said he was high on fentanyl and LSD allegedly stabbed his dog to death and nearly decapitated her, according to police.

The Coral Springs Police Department arrested 58-year-old Steven Douglas McKinney on an aggravated animal abuse charge. According to a probable cause arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, McKinney’s roommate called police around 9 a.m. Feb. 13 saying McKinney killed his own dog on the back porch of their home. While speaking with dispatchers, the roommate said McKinney grabbed the knife again and cut himself in the neck.
