A woman from Florida faces charges of false imprisonment and burglary after allegedly attempting to abduct a 5-year-old boy from his grandmother’s car.
Jail records at Broward County indicate that Ivanna Nobile, 38, also has an immigration hold placed on her. More details can be viewed here.
As reported by WPLG, the grandmother explained to authorities that she had pulled over at a gas station because her SUV began emitting smoke on Tuesday morning. During this moment, a woman, later identified as Nobile, approached and offered the grandmother what seemed to be an Argentinian ID, claiming the person in the photo was her aunt.
The grandmother did not think much of the interaction until Nobile suddenly opened the back passenger door, where the young boy was seated.
“I’m taking him,” Nobile declared, seizing the boy’s arm. She added, “This child is the wrong color to be with this woman.”
According to the police report, surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts supported the grandmother’s story. Witnesses reported being drawn to the scene by the grandmother’s cries for help.
One witness said she heard the grandmother “screaming for help stating that this woman was trying to kidnap her kid,” Law&Crime reported. She said she saw the suspect “pulling on” the boy’s arm, the affidavit says.
Police arrived on the scene after the grandmother called 911. Nobile was taken into custody but “refused to speak” with the officer who wrote the affidavit.
