A fatal motorcycle crash in Texas resulted in the loss of a life and the arrest of a former NFL player for driving while intoxicated.
The Richardson Police Department announced that a female motorcyclist was hit in the 2400 block of northbound North Central Expressway just before 5 a.m. on Saturday. Cody Morris, a 27-year-old from Plano, was declared dead at the site.
About 45 minutes later, Kelvin Joseph Jr., aged 25, approached the Plano Police Department and admitted his involvement in the crash. Joseph’s BMW sedan was moving northbound on North Central Expressway when it reportedly collided with Morris. Officers noticed signs of intoxication during their interaction with Joseph, resulting in his arrest.
Joseph is currently affiliated with the D.C. Defenders, a team in the UFL that is set to compete in the conference championship game today. He was selected in 2021 by the Dallas Cowboys and participated in 26 games before being traded in 2023. Throughout his NFL career, Joseph has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and Indianapolis Colts, as reported by People Magazine.
Joseph was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor B) and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death (2nd Degree Felony).
