GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alex Michael Sellers, 27, has been handed a 10-year state prison sentence, followed by 15 years of sex offender probation, after admitting to 29 charges related to child pornography.
Sellers was taken into custody in October 2024, following an investigation by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Detective. The detective, acting on a CyberTip, acquired information from Discord regarding Sellers’s conversations with accounts purported to be minors; he allegedly distributed nude photos of himself and solicited images of “the youngest you got.”
Sellers initially faced charges that included two counts of obscene communication with a minor under 16, using a computer to solicit a minor, 13 counts of distributing child pornography, 32 counts of utilizing a two-way communications device to commit a felony, and 16 counts of distributing obscene material to a minor.
On June 12, Sellers entered a plea of nolo contendere to using a computer to solicit a minor, three counts of showing obscene material to a minor, 12 counts of transmission of material harmful to minors, 12 counts of transmitting obscene material to a minor, and solicitation of transmission of child pornography. According to the plea document, the maximum sentence for the charges is 145 years in prison, and Sellers’s score sheet calculated a minimum sentence of 80.175 months (under seven years).
Judge William Davis sentenced Sellers to 10 years in state prison with credit for 35 days served, followed by 15 years of sex offender probation. He will also be designated a Sexual Offender.
