Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On October 22, Charnavis Arkeem Queen, aged 35, was arrested after he was accused of hurling a car jack through the windshield of a vehicle while it was occupied.

According to a report from the Gainesville Police Department, the incident occurred early in the morning on October 19. Around 5:20 a.m., following a dispute with Queen, the victim attempted to drive away when Queen allegedly threw a car jack, shattering the windshield and causing approximately $700 in damages.

The officer noted that the car jack remained lodged in the windshield when he arrived. Though Queen was not found at the scene, a warrant was issued for his arrest on October 21, leading to his apprehension the following day.

Queen now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and property damage. His criminal history includes one violent felony conviction and three misdemeanors, two of which are violent. Additionally, he has a pending sworn complaint from 2020 for domestic battery. Previously, he served time in state prison for attempted felony murder and was released in 2022. Judge Adam Lee has ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to keep him detained until trial; should the motion be denied, bail will be determined at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on information provided by law enforcement agencies. The charges mentioned are derived from arrest reports and court documentation and are considered allegations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
