GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have taken 24-year-old Logan Scott Lawor into custody following allegations that he brandished a BB gun at three neighbors who were out walking their dog.
According to a report from the Gainesville Police Department, the incident unfolded around 10:40 a.m. on April 26. The victims were strolling along the 500 block of NW 35th Street when a conversation took place between one of the victims’ husbands and Lawor’s mother. The husband warned that if their dog attacked, he would have to take defensive action. He also asserted their right to walk on the public road.
Subsequently, Lawor emerged from his home armed with what appeared to be a black handgun, which was later confirmed to be an Airsoft BB gun. Allegedly, he aimed the weapon at the victims’ legs, shouting and gesturing for them to move along. The group reportedly feared for their safety during the encounter.
In speaking with Lawor, the officer documented that Lawor admitted he wasn’t thinking clearly and possibly overreacted. He explained the gun was a BB gun and expressed uncertainty about its functionality, also noting he was unaware of the presence of a child.
Upon reviewing footage from a doorbell camera, the officer observed Lawor advancing down the driveway towards the victims with the gun visible in his hand. The video also depicted him waving the firearm at the individuals, who were legally on the road when confronted by Lawor.
Lawor has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. He has no criminal history, and Judge George Wright set bail at $30,000.
