Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have taken Queen Sharon Lily Reeves, 27, into custody on allegations of fraudulently securing SNAP and Medicaid benefits.

An affidavit submitted by a Florida Department of Financial Services investigator reveals that Reeves applied for public assistance on several occasions from December 28, 2022, to August 7, 2024. In these applications, she purportedly claimed an income of $1,000 bi-weekly from her employment.

The investigation uncovered that Reeves was employed with the Florida Department of Children and Families from January 6, 2023, to at least November 30, 2024, earning a total of $103,206.61 during this time. It is alleged that she did not disclose this income on at least two benefit applications and omitted overtime earnings on one.

Throughout this timeframe, Reeves reportedly collected $11,964 in SNAP benefits and $3,022.83 in Medicaid benefits, accumulating a total of $14,986.83 in assistance.

Reeves faces charges for providing false information on public assistance applications and unlawfully obtaining benefits exceeding $200, a felony offense. Although she has no prior criminal record, a domestic battery complaint was filed against her in February 2024, which did not lead to an arrest, and the charge was later dismissed. Judge James Colaw has set her bail at $1,000 following the issuance of a warrant for her arrest.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
